Protern.io Adding Para Alpine, Ski Cross and Alpine World Cup Races to Schedule For January

Jan 20, 2020 (Whitehorse, Canada) – 2020 is proving to be a year of expanded markets for the newly launched software Protern.io. Initially launched just prior to the Audi Alpine World Cup in Lake Louise in November 2019 and focused on alpine skiing, coaches and teams with para-alpine, and ski cross are joining alpine teams in signing on.

Already this month Protern.io has joined Team Canada Para-Alpine staff in advance of the 2020 Para Alpine World Cup season opener in Veysonnaz, Switzerland as they worked with the new software and gather data for para-athletes. In other events Protern.io analysts worked with Team Canada at the Nor-Am Ski Cross at Canyon Ski Resort, and Swiss-Ski and Team Canada during preparations for the 2020 Audi FIS Ski Cross World Cup in Nakiska this past weekend.

“ Our objective as a program is podium performances at the Paralympic Winter Games, in order to achieve this we need to get the most out of the program and our athletes” stated Jean-Sébastien Labrie – Head Coach, Canada’s Para-Alpine Team. “ As technology continues to improve we can utilize the data to find ways to be faster, and ensure we’re doing everything we can to stay ahead of the competition.”

Developed by Proskida, Protern.io. continues to find new markets and CEO Alastair Smith says the company is constantly working on the development of Protern.io capabilities including a version geared to endurance sport.

“We are really happy with the response to Protern.io and the feedback we are receiving from the various sports and teams. We are also excited to be able to add the ability to provide live “factored” times for para-alpine which is really unique and enables coaches to compare several para-athletes in real-time while accommodating for their classification ” says Alastair Smith, CEO and Founder of Proskida. “And for Ski Cross the ability for real-time speed tracking at each feature is proving to be a game changer. These expanding capabilities are an indicator of the opportunities for the endurance version we have planned. ”

Protern.io takes a unique approach to sport performance analysis focusing only on the sections of an athlete’s training session that matter most to their performance. This allows a coach and athlete to view all the relevant sensor data, but only for like sections. No black-box “training effect” scores, Microsoft Excel macros, or oversimplified proxy metrics.

“ Setting up and running traditional timing systems is time consuming and challenging, ultimately taking our coaches attention away from what they do best, coaching, The technology allows us to collect far greater amounts of data, without taking up large amounts of time, and to capitalize on expert analysis that we can’t do in the course of our daily training environments.” says Matt Hallatt, Alpine Director, Canada’s Para-Alpine Team.“ Protern.io provides for seamless set up and operation of timing, allowing our coaches to watch the athletes, get simultaneous timing, and provide the athletes feedback in real time. Which is a vast improvement in an outdoor sport like ours.”

The schedule of demos and support to clients is quickly growing for Protern.io with plans over the next ninety days to include attendance at:

  • Alpine Canada/Alpine Ontario Coaching Clinics, Collingwood Ont, Jan 29
  • National Downhill Speed Camp, Kimberley Alpine Resort, BC, January 28-30
  • FIS Alpine World Cup, Garmisch Partenkirchen, February 5-7
