For teams and programs
Protern at team scale
Protern is designed for how teams actually train: multiple athletes, multiple coaches, and sessions that move between lanes, hills, and camps.
It automatically links each run’s timing and video to the athlete, so coaches spend less time organizing files and more time reviewing what matters.
Many programs start with one training group and expand. Others deploy team-wide from day one. Either way, coaches keep the same on-snow workflow.
Why Protern works for teams
Teams adopt Protern when they want better training feedback without adding staff work. Athletes's runs are captured automatically, coaches can easily review video, and everyone stays aligned.
Built for multiple coaches and athletes
Each athlete owns their own sensor and account, while coaches can review data and video across athletes and groups.
Athlete-owned hardware, program-level visibility
Athletes purchase and own their Protern sensor and bib. Programs retain visibility into performance across seasons and training locations.
Consistent measurement across groups
Whether athletes are training at different hills or with different coaches, detailed tracking data is automatically captured.
Engaged athletes, clearer feedback
Athletes can review their own data and video outside of training sessions, leading to better preparation and more productive on-snow time.
Objective data parents understand
Parents value clear, objective measurement. Protern helps make training progress more tangible and transparent.
Protern as essential kit
Helmet. Goggles. Protern. Many teams now treat Protern as standard equipment rather than optional technology.
How teams roll out Protern
Protern can start small and scale quickly. Most programs begin with one group, confirm the workflow on snow, then expand to additional groups or coaches.
-
Step 1. Start with one or more training groupsMany programs begin with a single group or age class before expanding team-wide.
-
Step 2. Athletes purchase their own Protern PacksTeams typically share a dedicated store link so athletes purchase directly. This keeps hardware off the team budget.
-
Step 3. Coaches review across groups and locationsCoaches can review timing and video across groups, even when athletes are training in different places or on different schedules.
-
Step 4. Grow when readyAdd groups, coaches, or locations without changing how coaches capture or review sessions.
What’s included for teams
Teams do not need to guess what is required to get started. Coaches can qualify for a free Protern, and athletes bring their own equipment so programs can grow without managing shared hardware.
Coach accounts are free
Coaches apply for a free Protern Pass.
Protern apps are included
Protern Sync, Protern Video, and Protern Clock are included. There are no separate app fees.
Athletes purchase Protern Packs themselves
Includes sensor, bib, and Protern Pass. Athletes keep their equipment if they change teams or move on.
TimeLink when filming with a camera
If you use a video camera instead of a phone, teams typically budget for one TimeLink per setup.
Optional spares
Some programs keep one or two spare sensors on hand for flexibility.
Protern.io has been fantastic! At our camp in Hintertux, we were finding new relevant information, allowing us to provide more objective and accurate feedback to our athletes.
Protern.io helps our athletes improve faster and you can see it in the team’s race results this season. Skiing is an arms race and Protern.io is the ultimate weapon.
Talk to us about your program
This form starts a conversation. We want to understand how your program trains, how you film, and what a rollout would look like.
If your program has fewer than five athletes, Protern Packs are usually the best place to start.
