Protern Video release notes

Simpler settings, and a way to get a whole team set up the same.

• Simpler settings
  Settings is now an index of seven short pages instead of one long list, so you find the item you need faster.
• Team Setup File
  Build one file with your team’s settings, properties and camera names, then hand it to every coach. Each coach reviews the changes before anything is applied.
• Before you film
  Recording settings now open over the live camera, with a clear choice between just for this session and your default.
• Storage settings say what you keep
  New wording makes it clear which copy lives on your device. Your videos stay in Protern Cloud either way.
• Names match across coaches
  “Sam Taylor” and “sam taylor” are now the same athlete, so grouping and multi-cam work.
• Better timecode detection
  More reliable LTC on difficult audio, and the LTC tone is muted even when it cannot be decoded.
• Fixes
  Advanced Video export on Windows, a crash on Mac after clearing local data, and camera preview rotation on some Android phones.

• Work with libraries of 20,000+ videos on any device
  Protern Video stays fast with very large libraries, including on phones. Loading, search, filtering and grouping keep up even with tens of thousands of videos.
• Enhanced LTC detection
  More reliable timecode sync across a wider range of audio, frame rates and source files, with fewer false mutes of regular audio.
• GoPro import
  Import footage from GoPro 11 and newer and sync it automatically using the camera's built-in GPS time.
• Side-by-side export without data
  Export side-by-side comparisons even when the videos have no Protern data attached.
• Smoother filming
  Faster camera and athlete search in landscape while filming on phones, plus multi-cam, upload and stability fixes.

• Added the ability to filter videos by their status (i.e. cloud sync status, data status, timecode status, etc) to make it easier to find and address tricky videos
• New cloud setting to remove the local video after successful upload. This will help keep your device memory free for more filming and/or importing.

• Improved LTC audio detection to avoid muting non-LTC audio

• Compress-on-import now supports video files with uncompressed audio and high-resolution footage, including from professional Sony cameras.
• Added a "In 6 hours" option to Auto-Remove Unwatched Videos, which is long enough to review after training, short enough to clear before tomorrow's session.
• Remove Local Copy is now a separate action from Delete. Removing a local copy frees up device storage while keeping the video in the cloud; Delete still removes the video entirely.

• Added ability to assign/change an athlete to the video playback screen
• Shared videos that are rotated or trimmed and the updated version will automatically download for shared users

Find, watch, and organize your videos faster.

• Multiple gallery and video layouts
  Pick the right layout for the job: single pane for focused review, two-pane to keep the gallery in view, or three-pane to see video details at the same time.
• New gallery views
  Add small thumbnails or list view to scan your library and find the right video faster.
• Customize what each view shows
  Choose which properties appear with each video, like athlete name, quantriq, snow conditions, or ski number, so you see what matters to you.
• Custom camera names
  Rename CAM 1 to Pos 1, ValleyCam, or whatever your team calls it, then filter the gallery by camera name.

Organize and find your videos faster than ever.

• Custom Video Properties - tag videos with camera position, snow conditions, discipline, or anything you need. Supports text, number, and yes/no types.
• Bulk assign properties on import, during filming, or after the fact.
• Properties travel with shared videos - when a coach shares via Protern Cloud or Advanced Video, their properties come through automatically.
• Advanced search and filtering by athlete, tag, run number, or any custom property - even within multi-cam videos.
• Multi-level grouping and sorting - nest up to three groups (e.g. date, course, athlete) to organize large libraries your way.
• Smart collapsing keeps your library clean by only expanding recent groups.

• Fixed an issue where Protern Video occasionally muted TimeLink microphone audio, so you can hear all your gasps and quiet curses in the video.
• Further improvements to LTC decoding for better handling of tricky audio sources.
• Smoother path overlay with cleaner lines and improved colour transitions.
• New acceleration over time data overlay.

• Protern Cloud is now enabled by default with sharing set to Private, so only your devices can access your videos. You can change the default sharing and other Protern Cloud settings from the Settings menu.
• Improved LTC (Linear Timecode) detection for audio sources with heavy compression or processing, such as GoPro footage.

• Speed only visualization with no comparison colourization has been added as an overlay and render option
• Option to auto-save videos when filming using Protern Video

• Get your videos faster, without sacrificing quality. The "Original" cloud upload setting now uploads a fast-access version first, then follows up with the full high-quality original. Everyone with access to the video will get the fast version immediately, and will automatically receive the high-quality update when it's ready. To save mobile data, Protern Video will upload the fast version on mobile and wait for a Wi-Fi connection before uploading the original.
• Bug fixes for saving settings on import and zipping files on export.

• Video uploads to the cloud are now more robust. If you turn off your computer, loose Internet, or shut down Protern Video, the video uploads will start up where they left off before they were interrupted
• New import and filming settings allows for temporary changes to how videos are shared

• For imported videos, Protern Video can now automatically detect which athlete is in the video based on your quantriq data. Simply upload your athlete data and create a quantriq. Once completed, import your LTC video and tap the assign icon. The app will automatically assign the athlete. If there are two athletes on the course at the same time, the app will let you pick which one it is.

  We've added map view to be able to see where on the course you lost speed compared to the fastest. In addition, we added a time difference graph so that you can see how time was gained or lost in a section.
